The FIP Foundation collaborates with the Early Career Pharmaceutical Group (ECPG) to provide leadership development for early career pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists.
Initiatives:
- Support development of future leaders for FIP and professional organizations engagement, as well as for leadership roles in careers of pharmacy practice, education, and pharmaceutical science.
- Establish new processes to foster leadership development with other FIP units.
- Continue to support the Ton Hoek Scholarship for development of future FIP leaders.
Making a Difference: Leadership Development Scholarships
The Foundation and ECPG Leadership Development Scholarships:
The Foundation, together with the FIP ECPG and Regional Forums, will awards 6 grants to support travel and participation in the annual ECPG Leadership Development Workshop and the FIP World Congress. The Foundation will collaborate with ECPG and FIP Regional Forum representatives to select a participant from each region. These individuals will also receive ongoing mentoring and support and are expected to rise to leadership roles in their country professional organization and in FIP.

Congratulations to the six recipients of the ECLD Scholarship 2025:
Western Pacific Region (John Ware Leadership Scholar)
Diana Dalisay A. Orolfo is a public health practitioner, educator, and the Executive Vice President (President-Elect) of the Young Pharmacists Group – Philippines. She advances evidence-based, equity-focused pharmacy practice to support universal health care in the Philippines, with key contributions in pharmaceutical policy, health technology assessment, pharmacy advocacy, and pharmaceutical management in primary care.

American Region
Vinícius André Boff is a pharmacist and a master’s student in Pharmaceutical Assistance in Florianópolis, Brazil. He is a member of the Integra project, which aims to create and strengthen an integrated network of leaders advocating for science and public health policies. He serves as a board member of the Santa Catarina Health State Council and is also a member of the Research Group for Pharmaceutical Policies and Services. Additionally, he is a director of the Santa Catarina Pharmaceutical Union and a member of the Academic League of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Care.

European Region
Hana Helac is a current PhD student from Bosnia and Herzegovina, serving as a Teaching and Research Assistant at the Department for Drug Analytics at the University of Sarajevo-Faculty of Pharmacy with experience as a Regulatory Affairs Officer, Pharmacovigilance Officer, and involvement in marketing activities for various projects.

South East Asian Region
Wanda Brillianty Putri is a pharmacist from Indonesia whose work currently focuses on pharmaceutical product management and marketing in the pharmaceutical industry. The product portfolio is mostly in biopharmaceutical products for rare diseases and cancer therapies. Additionally, she has been involved in the young pharmacists associations nationally, regionally, and globally.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the FIP Foundation for giving me a chance to receive the FIP Early Career Leadership Development scholarship. This award is truly valuable and will significantly help me excel in my career and leadership journey ahead. Attending FIP Congress in Copenhagen, Denmark, will give me opportunities to engage with the global leaders. I will not let any opportunities slip away. I will definitely make the most of my time in Copenhagen so that I will be equipped with new knowledge and skills to be implemented in my home country. Oluchukwu Harriet Onyedibe is a clinical pharmacist from Nigeria, passionate about mitigating medication errors and medication-related harm and promoting patient safety.

Eastern Mediterranean Region
Meshkat Torkamanian, PharmD – MPH, is a pharmacist from Iran and a graduate of the Tehran University of Medical Sciences. She currently serves as the Authorized Person at Razi Pharmaceutical Distribution Co., Isfahan branch.

Congratulations to the 2025 CPS ECLD scholarship recipient:
Yeow Shiau Hueh is a community pharmacist based in Malaysia with an MSc in Clinical Pharmacy, International Practice and Policy. She advocates for accessible, community-based healthcare solutions and has led initiatives in chronic disease management, cancer care, and public health awareness.

This opportunity will not only broaden my perspectives in global pharmacy practice but also empower me to bring back valuable insights to enhance and broaden the community pharmacy services in Malaysia. Ton Hoek Scholarship:
Honoring Ton Hoek: This scholarship is named after the late General Secretary of FIP, Mr A.J.M. (Ton) Hoek (1955-2012). Many leaders in FIP donated to create this scholarship in his memory. Ton Hoek was born in The Hague, in 1955 and studied Pharmacy at the State University of Leiden in the Netherlands. From 1999 until he passed away in 2012, Ton Hoek was the General Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of FIP, the International Pharmaceutical Federation. He is remembered for his dedication and service to FIP and the pharmacy profession.
The Foundation will continue to provide the annual Ton Hoek Scholarship for travel to FIP World Congress. This award recipient will receive travel support to participate in the annual ECPG Leadership Development Workshop and the FIP World Congress. These individuals will also receive ongoing mentoring and support and are expected to rise to leadership roles in their country professional organization and in FIP.

Congratulations to the 2025 recipient:
Md. Mirajul Islam is a registered pharmacist in Bangladesh, serving as Senior Programme Manager and Lead Instructor at the Vennue Foundation, specialising in Good Pharmacy Practice and pharmacy workforce development in low-resource settings, programme management and implementation research in the health field.
In his role, he trained health staff and pharmacy students across 20 healthcare facilities and universities, increasing pharmaceutical knowledge, pharmacy service satisfaction, and improving care for patients in Bangladesh.
Additionally, he serves as a volunteer Hospital Pharmacist and is actively involved with several professional organizations in Bangladesh and internationally.
He was awarded the FIP Foundation for Education and Research “Early Career Leadership Development (ECLD)” Scholarship in 2024 from Southeast Asia to attend and present his work at the FIP Congress in Cape Town, South Africa.
